Ada loved exploring. Today, she was venturing into the Whispering Woods behind her house. Mama always said to be careful and stay on the path. But today, a shimmering butterfly beckoned Ada deeper.

Drawn by the butterfly's iridescent wings, Ada wandered off the path. Deeper and deeper she went, ignoring Mama's warning. Suddenly, the butterfly flitted away, leaving Ada alone in a part of the woods she didn't recognize.

"Oh dear," Ada whispered, a little shiver running down her spine. "I'm lost!" Just then, a tiny voice chirped, "Perhaps I can help, little one?"

Ada gasped, looking around. Perched on a branch, a squirrel with a white patch on its chest gave her a knowing look. "Did you just talk?" Ada asked, her eyes wide with astonishment. "Indeed, I did!" the squirrel chirped. "I am Barnaby."

"Barnaby," Ada repeated, giggling. "You can talk! I'm Ada. I'm lost, you see. I chased a butterfly and now I don't know how to get back to the path." Barnaby tilted his head. "Butterflies can be rather distracting," he said knowingly.

"I can help you find your way back," Barnaby offered. "But you must promise me something. You must promise to always listen to your Mama. She knows these woods better than any butterfly." Ada nodded eagerly. "I promise!"

"Very well," said Barnaby. "Follow me! But step carefully, some paths are more… *obfuscated* than others." Barnaby scampered down the tree and darted into the undergrowth. Ada, emboldened, followed close behind, determined to keep up.

They walked and walked, Barnaby leading the way with his keen senses. He pointed out the *flora* and *fauna*, teaching Ada about the woods. Ada listened attentively, her earlier worry replaced by curiosity and wonder.

Suddenly, Barnaby stopped, his nose twitching. "Hmm," he said, sniffing the air. "There's a shortcut, but it's a little… *precarious*. A fallen log over a small ravine. Can you do it?" Ada looked at the log, her stomach fluttering.

Ada hesitated. The log looked slippery and high above the ground. "I… I don't know, Barnaby. It looks scary." Barnaby puffed out his chest. "But you promised to listen to your Mama, remember? She wants you to be brave and face your fears!"

Taking a deep breath, Ada remembered Mama's words: *"Even when you're scared, Ada, you can be brave."* She stepped onto the log, her heart pounding. Slowly, carefully, she shuffled across, Barnaby cheering her on from the other side.
