Nish loved bright colors and exciting stories! He often imagined traveling far away, because books showed him amazing places. Today, he gazed at a picture of a bustling festival, full of happy dancers.

Ding-dong! A new girl, Lila, stood at his door. She held a beautiful, colorful wooden doll, and smiled shyly. “Hello,” she whispered, “I’m Lila. We just moved next door!”

Nish's eyes sparkled. “Wow! Your doll is lovely!” he exclaimed. Lila explained, “She’s called a ‘Golu doll’ from a festival called Navaratri, back home in India. My family sets out many, many dolls for this festival!”

“We also love sweet treats!” Lila giggled. She offered Nish a little golden square, called a ‘barfi’. Nish took a brave bite. “Mmm, it’s sweet and nutty,” he said, enjoying the new taste because Lila shared her culture.

Lila decided to show Nish how to draw a colorful Rangoli pattern, like they make on the floor for festivals. Nish tried carefully, choosing bright blues and sunny yellows, but his lines wobbled a bit.

“Oh no!” Nish sighed, because his special blue crayon broke right in the middle of his wavy Rangoli line. He felt a little sad. “Now my pattern won’t look vibrant!” Lila looked thoughtful, a plan forming.

“Don’t worry, Nish!” Lila declared, “We can use paint instead!” Together, they dipped their fingers in bright blue paint, gently dabbing patterns. Nish carefully made swirly shapes, and his smile returned!

With a flourish, they finished their beautiful, shimmering Rangoli. “Look, Mom and Dad!” Nish announced proudly, “Lila taught me how to make a pattern from India! It looks so cheerful.” His parents smiled.

Nish felt happy because learning about Lila's world was exciting, and making art together was even better. They promised to share more stories, because friendship helps new cultures bloom!
